CHIROPRACTIC CARE FOR BABIES REVESBY
Primitive reflexes
Retained neonatal reflexes, or primitive reflexes, are the automatic movements babies are born with, helping them survive in those crucial early months. As your child grows, these reflexes should gradually fade, allowing for more advanced motor skills and better emotional regulation. But sometimes, these reflexes don’t disappear as they should, which can impact your child's behaviour and development. For instance, the Moro reflex—a startle response—should typically fade by 4-6 months. If it sticks around, it can lead to your child feeling overly anxious, easily startled, or having trouble focusing, which is sometimes linked to challenges like ADHD.
Dr. Jay at Touchpoint Chiropractic specialises in spotting these retained reflexes and helping children move past them. She’s got the expertise to support your child’s development, making sure they have the best chance to thrive. If you’ve noticed your child struggling with concentration, coordination, or managing their emotions, it is worth getting them checked for retained neonatal reflexes. Catching these early and addressing them can make a real difference in your child’s overall growth and well-being.
